before your session
THIS GUIDE IS AIMED TO HELP ALLEVIATE the PRESSURE OF preparing for WHAT WILL BE THE VERY FIRST DOCUMENTARY OF YOUR BABY AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN BORN INTO YOUR FAMILY!
As a little reminder, please let me know as soon as baby has arrived so that we can firm up the date. This is a necessary practice to ensure the session place within the first weeks of life. If I am not notified within 2 days of their baby being born, the session may fall outside of this range.
You (or your partner) can either email me at studio@thefitzroys.com, or if it’s easier, feel free to send a text message to let me know about your happy news. (0451442710#).
I'd love to know your baby's name too! :)
I hope you both can relax and get ready to welcome your little one not long from now. I am looking forward to hearing your great news!
“Safety Information”
If you are unwell or something does not feel right on the day of your session, please just let me know. I understand your body has just gone through a big ordeal and likewise with your baby; yours and their health and safety takes first priority. We are living in times now where we don’t push on if we aren’t well: we reschedule.
If you begin to feel unwell through your session just let me know, you’ll come to see when you meet me how flexible, caring and understanding I am.
I do not contort babies bodies or have them in positions that aren’t natural to them; nor do I put them in boxes or bowls or baskets. My sessions are very much led by your baby, which means lovely, curly womb like positions that happen naturally in those first weeks of life. Some people don’t book me because of this as they’d prefer more elaborate set-ups, and that’s ok. The people that do book me appreciate the beauty in the ‘simple’ and ‘less is more’.
“Sickness”
I do not photograph newborn babies if I am even remotely unwell, so if I contact you to reschedule, please know its in the best interest of your baby. I will give as much notice as possible, and will arrange an alternative day for you to come in that works for you. Please be aware this may fall outside of the 6-14 day range I typically photograph babies however given my experience in photography I am able to create beautiful images for you regardless. I will give as much notice as possible.
“Covid-19”
If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, please seek medical attention prior to coming in to see me for your session. Likewise, if I am experiencing symptoms, your session will be postponed.
Remember with the easing of restrictions, community contact is a possibility and whilst I am taking all the necessary precautions with cleaning, when you attending the studio for your session, you do so knowing it is at your own risk.
“Working with Children Check”
Yes! I have a current WWC check
“First Aid & CPR”
It’s my goal to make sure you walk away with not only beautiful photographs, but also having had a beautiful experience and a big part of that is you knowing that your children’s safety comes first, and that your little one will be safely handles at all times.
I hope this puts your mind at ease knowing that:
I am up to date with my whooping cough vaccinations
I am up to date with four covid-19 immunisation
I am up to date with the seasonal Flu vaccination (latest booster administered in June 2024)
I am trained in CPR & First Aid (baby, children & and adults)
I have completed Newborn Safety workshop on and received training on Safety Management, Risk Management, First Aid Risk Assessment
I am insured
* A FRIENDLY YET IMPORTANT NOTE * Please be advised that I do not reschedule appointments due to general Maternal Health appointments made after we have already booked in a date. As you can imagine a great deal of work goes into juggling families to make sure everyone gets a place within the desired timeframe for newborn portrait photography. Maternal Health nurses operate on full time hours and are much more flexible – they can change their appointments to another suitable time where I can’t. I also would not recommend you trying to fit in an appointment of any kind before 3:00pm on the day of your session as this may put unnecessary pressure on everyone to be finished by a certain time (an impossible feat given the star of the show – your baby! – will determine the length of the session). If you have health & safety concerns for your baby, then of course a health check-up takes first priority!
Thank you for your understanding on this very important matter.
